The Laugavegur Hiking Trail is Iceland’s most famous trail and truly one of the world’s most beautiful treks, as described by National Geographic

This 4 day self-guided hiking package, offers you the chance to experience the Laugavegur trail, on foot and on your own terms.

The Laugavegur trail connects the Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk Nature Reserves and offers a variety of different volcanic landscapes along the way. Every day has different views with beautiful scenery of pristine nature with volcanoes, lava fields, glaciers, natural hot springs, black arctic deserts and the lush forested valleys of Þórsmörk. Accommodation along the way is provided in rustic mountain huts in beautiful locations. 


The trek starts in Landmannalaugar and finishes at the Volcano Huts in Þórsmörk. By extending the trek by one or two days you can hike over the Fimmvörðuháls pass all the way to Skógar, south of the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and Glacier. An open bus ticket is included in this package which allows you to take the bus from Reykjavík to the trailhead in Landmannalaugar and back again from Þórsmörk or Skógar at the end of the trail.

What's included?
    • Mountain Bus to and from trail: From Reykjavik BSI coach station to Landmannalaugar, and then from Þórsmörk or Skógar back to Reykjavik
    • 4 - 5 days hiking the Laugavegur and Þórsmörk trails
    • Accommodation 4 nights in mountain huts on the trail (sleeping bag required)
    • 1 x dinner and 1 x breakfast per person at the Volcano Huts in Þórsmörk

        • Carry all your own equipment incl. food and sleeping bag
        • Accommodation in rustic mountain huts

          • Wind and waterproof jacket and trousers
          • Waterproof inner layer inside backpack
          • Fleece or wool sweater
          • Light weight shirt or sweater
          • T-shirts
          • Sunglasses
          • Light shoes or sandals to wade rivers and wear if hiking boots get wet
          • Sleeping bag good for – 10°C
          • Swimwear and/or shorts
          • First aid kit with blister kits, pain relief medicine, bandages
          • Survival kit with survival blanket, whistle, knife, matches, shoe laces, tape
          • Sunscreen
          • Drinking bottle 1 L
          • Drinking cup
          • Compass & map, GPS – learn how to use it!
          • Food for required number of days
          • Campers need to carry tents
          • Campers need to carry cooking equipment and fuel
