The meeting point is easy to locate and just a quick detour from the Ring Road on the South Coast.


You will meet your experienced Glacier Guide at the Sólheimajökull parking lot. This meet on location tour is perfect for travelers driving Iceland's South Coast who want an up-close encounter with nature without a full-day commitment. 


Led by a certified expert guide, you'll learn about glacial formations during your hike to this stunning outlet of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Enjoy exploring breathtaking crevasses, ice ridges, and sinkholes on this 3.5 hour adventure. A surprise from the guide awaits you when you reach the top of the glacier.


All equipment is provided, making this accessible hike perfect for a 3.5 hour. Your guide will provide crampons, harnesses, helmets, and an ice axe upon arrival.

Please don't forget to wear hiking clothing and hiking boots with ankle support (available for rent at location). The weather on the glacier can be unpredictable, so it's essential to dress in layers and bring waterproof jackets and pants.

        • Rocky terrain on the way to the glacier and the glacier hike takes about 3.5 hours in total.
        • During the glacier hike, we will spend 45 minutes to 1 hour on the ice.
        • Minimum age is 8 years old for the Glacier Hike.
        • The hike is rated as easy to moderate.

        The weather in Iceland can be unpredictable, especially during winter. Therefore, you can experience all kinds of weather conditions in a single day.


        Please Note: We recommend that participants be ready at the meeting point location at least 20 minutes before departure.


        Why you need to arrive at least 20 minutes before departure time?

        We need to get everyone fitted with the equipment, crampons, helmets, harnesses and ice axe. The crampons need to be adjusted to each persons shoe size so it is important that people arrive 20 minutes before so everyone is ready at the departure time.

          • Warm clothes (first layer). Waterproof outdoor clothing.
          • Good warm clothes during the winter. Hat and gloves.
          • Hiking boots above the ankle (available for rent is you ask for) .

          Jeans are not recommended for outdoor trips as they become very heavy and cold when they get wet.
